from what I've read, security essentials technically replace defender, but on Microsoft site both are still available for download - very confusing.

i'm actually really lost, because i had this MSE installed and updated it, etc.. and still got that internet security malware virus and was a bitch to remove. MSE didnt even identify it or block it when i was scanning my comp. had to get superanitspyware to completely remove the virus. if this antivirus is one of the best, why didnt it get rid of it or prevent it?????? i switched to avast, and it found viruses MSE couldnt identify and removed them. AV's are so freaking complicated.

My bitdefender internet security 2010 can do, all most the same thing. What about port scans, can this antivirus blok port scans, can it secure me if I have a network with whirles laptops etc. And can this microsoft program protect me like my BIS2010 firewall does? And will this program know diference bettwen real viruses and fals/positive like virustools from keyengens etc. I meen can it compare with my antivirus, and ensure the same protection?

its ok as long as one of them has real time and firewall turned off and is only used for scanning and removal, but if you use one to scan you should turn the others real time off
