Description: James Kalm investigates the third one-man exhibition by this young Brooklyn based painter. Although there is a strong contingency of abstraction that still holds sway over large portions of the painting scene in New York, there are talented artists who pursue an expressionistic figuration. Schneiderâs oftentimes large canvases carry overt reverences to a New York School sensibility with their physical employment of pigment, drips, and recently poetic notes scribbled over the surface. Homespun imagery mingles with the exotic from the tropics, and continues a legacy extending from the likes of Eric Fischl and David Bates.
